Easter People on an Easter Mission

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;  and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Peter:3-8

Friends,

Easter has come but it has not gone. We may put away the decorations and eat through the candy, but Easter changed the world forever. Lent, Holy Week and our Easter worship services drew me deeper into this world-changing good news, and I pray they did for you and your family as well.

We are an Easter people on an Easter mission. We follow a risen savior through the power of the Holy Spirit that he promised would come and help us finish the race set before us. This last part is key. We need the power that the presence of the Holy Spirit brings to live the lives God calls us to live and have the impact in our community God created us to achieve. This is how the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, as Peter puts it, stays productive in us and in the world.

I hope you will join us as we explore how encounters with the Spirit in scripture reveal deep truths about who God is and how God is at work in our midst.

Blessings,

Pastor Ben
