Holy Week for the Win

Holy Week is here.
This Sunday the procession of palms will herald the arrival of Jesus in to Jerusalem, Thursday we will gather around the table as Jesus institutes Communion. Friday we will fix our eyes on the cross and the amazing love of God for us. On Saturday, we will laugh and learn the Easter story as a family, and by the next Sunday the tomb will be empty, death will be defeated and the risen Lord will be worshiped. I am very much looking forward to sharing in this journey with the people of University again.
It is this week that brings the power and possibility of God to every other week. The victory of Jesus celebrated this week brings holy moments into all other weeks.
In fact, every week Holy happens in our midst. Every week veterans gather and support each other, healing from PTSD. Every week people gather around food and scripture. Every week the word is proclaimed, and the kids at the elementary school next door are fed. Every week another soul is reminded that they are special and not simply because of their needs. Every week the life, death and resurrection of Jesus gives meaning and power to studying, praying and serving. Every week neighbors are blessed and comfort is given to those who grieve. Every week the grace poured out through Jesus compels us to share the good news in word and deed. Holy Week gives form and purpose to all other weeks.
Without the events of this week, there would be no mission and no church called to fulfill the mission. It is going to be quite a week. I hope you, your families, and your neighbors will join in the journey through this week and every week to come.
