Singing in the Sand

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:15-17

Friends,

Singing is a direct command of scripture. It doesn’t say you will sound amazing–though I am so thankful for those among us who are gifted and bless us with their voices. I sing (and dance) with great enthusiasm and little talent.

Here in Colossians we are instructed to teach and admonish each other through all manner of songs and music with grateful hearts. As we learn and grow as followers of Jesus, we are invited to sing along to the sound track of our life together.

I hope you can join us this summer as we explore the story behind some of the great hymns of our faith. Come join your voice (however you sound) and sing along.

Blessings,

Pastor Ben
