Take Your Authority

Posted by Rev. Holly Wilson on

Dear Friends,

“Take Your Authority”

That’s what the little sign over the door in my office says. I’ve been told Rev. Paul Parks put that sign there. Every time I look at that sign, I find courage to do what God has called me to do... and I think of Paul and I thank God for Paul.

This past Wednesday night, that little sign gave me courage as I prepared to lead Pastor Ben’s Bible study.

As I walked out my door to lead the study, I looked up at that sign, took a deep breath, pushed past my nerves and took my authority to pitch a new vision for pastoral care ministry based on the results of the recent mental health survey and a study of Luke 5:18-25.

Wednesday night was just the beginning of talking about the survey and what it means for us and our caring ministry.   Over the next few months, I will continue working with staff and laity to design a comprehensive plan for pastoral care ministry that will include strategies for dealing with the very important issues that the survey revealed.  This fall, we will be sharing that plan with the congregation.

If you are interested in learning more about the survey results or the new vision, I encourage you to watch the Bible study here

I’m excited about what God is up to here at University, and I hope you are too.

See you Sunday,

Holly
