Taxes, Exemptions and Grace

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

Friends,

Maybe because tax filings were due this week, I have been thinking about exemptions. It came up in Bible study on Wednesday, and the thought has stayed with me in reflection and prayer since.

We were discussing the scriptural command to refrain from passing judgement on anyone, no exceptions.

That means no one is too far gone that God won't seek them and welcome them home. No one has sinned beyond God's capacity and willingness to forgive. No one is exempted from the offer of His grace, and no one is an exception when it comes to the call to love and serve.

Including you.

You are not too far gone that God won't seek you and welcome you home. You have not sinned beyond God's capacity or willingness to forgive. You are not exempted from his offer of grace.

We are not to pass judgment on anyone- including ourselves. There are no exemptions, and unlike taxes, this is good news. Very good news.

Blessings,

Ben
