The Faith Within Us

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you. For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:5-7

Friends,

Paul writes to Timothy of his sincere faith that lived first in his grandmother and mother. Then he challenges him. This faith lives, so rekindle the gift that God has given and don’t be afraid of what is before you. God often works through the hands, the hearts and the hopes of others. We grow into the people God created us to be because the faith lives within those who love us.

I am grateful for the Loises and Eunices in my life in whom faith lived and lives. You may not have called her mom, but I bet there is a Eunice in your story worth celebrating and thanking. I don’t know who it was, but if you have come to have a sincere faith live within you, I am sure it lived first in someone who loved you enough to share it.

This weekend let’s give thanks and celebrate for God has been gracious, and let us rekindle the gift of God that is within us.

Blessings
Ben
