The Foundry's Kick Off

Posted by Sarah Reiter on

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
-Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dear University Family,

I am habitually early. And it isn’t just a few minutes early. It’s awkwardly, sometimes annoyingly, early. I likely heard the saying, “If you’re on time you’re late, and if you’re early you’re on time,” at a young age and took it to heart. Deeply. It is not uncommon for me to be ready to leave the house and check the time to realize it is far too early to leave. I’ll sit down - purse on my shoulder, keys in my hand, shoes on my feet – and wait till it’s at least closer to the right time to leave.

The past two years creating The Foundry, a multi-church ministry for young adults, has felt a bit like that. Several times since our original launch date of August 18, 2020, we have set a date and been all ready to kick off only to wait because it turns out it was not time yet.

Now, it’s time! Even as some of the circumstances that have previously led to delays continue, we seek to both do no harm while also doing good as we prepare to launch this ministry. (You can read more about how we hope to balance those two by reading this Blog.)

We are excited to kick off The Foundry Community Nights - where young adults from different churches will gather together for community, dinner, and worship - on September 14th at Alamo Heights UMC. Along with our partner churches, University plans to have several Foundry Small Groups for our young adults.

Thank you, University, for being on the team with us – excited, and supportive, and patient - as we have worked and waited. It has been two years of excitement, frustration, exhaustion, and being in awe of God as He led the way and made His timing known. Thank you, church family, for helping us make a place for this ministry and for helping the young adults in our community know that there is a place for them in The Foundry.

As always, we’d love to visit more if you have any questions. Email me or Pastor Reed anytime and check The Foundry out on the Web, Facebook, or Instagram.

Blessings,
Sarah Reiter
Director of College & Young Adults
