Living Out Our Legacy

We are all indebted to those who have come before us, our spiritual predecessors whose efforts made it possible for us to know and experience the love of Jesus. At the same time, we are called to plant seeds for the future, to ensure that the gospel news of Christ will be shared for generations to come. We partner in faith with those who have gone before us and offer the best that we have to those who will follow.

Our mission is to encourage and establish endowments, trusts, bequests, and gifts that support and assist University Methodist Church in its mission of making disciples for Christ.

About the University Foundation

The University Methodist Church Foundation, San Antonio is a supporting organization to University Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas, and is an IRS approved 501c (3) corporation. The foundation was created in 1981 to be a legacy-giving program for the future capacity of ministry at University Methodist Church.

What We Do

The Foundation develops and manages a variety of funds, and donors can choose to designate a gift to one of the already-established funds or give a gift that is undesignated.

The Legacy Fund
This fund ensures the continued care of our church home, making funds available to repair, remodel, upgrade, update, and/or replace needed items for our De Zavala facilities. Children, students, adults, families, those with special needs, and seasoned veterans of life have all found a home inside the walls of University, and this fund will secure the ongoing vitality of our buildings and site.

The Music Fund
This fund ensures support of the worship and music ministry of University Methodist Church.

The Mel Hughes Seminary Scholarships Fund
This fund exists to aid students preparing for ordained, full-time preaching ministry in a local church of the Methodist Church.
