CAM-Northwest Workday

It is that time of year again. Since Christian Assistance Ministry is one of our strategic partners, we dedicate a community workday to assist them at least once a year. February 15 we are working at their northwest location (on our church campus) assembling hygiene kits, cleaning, sorting supplies, and working on a few handyman jobs. This is a great opportunity for the family to serve together. We also need hospitality help with breakfast, drinks and snacks. You can come for an hour or stay all morning. We have tasks for all skill levels, abilities and people with mobility restrictions. You can register for the workday and get more details here. If you have questions, please contact Pauline Rodrigues or Steve Ryan.

If you want to volunteer with or support Christian Assistance Ministry, you can find more information on their website here.

YoungLives

Most Christians have heard about YoungLife, a teen-focused organization that has the mission to “Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith,” but few have heard about YoungLives (a ministry of YoungLife) that is focused to do the same for teen mothers.

More than 20 years ago, YoungLife answered God’s call to run headfirst into the chaos of teenage motherhood with the hope of Jesus ... and YoungLives was born.

YoungLives has never wavered from the original vision to reach teen moms by entering their world, modeling the unconditional love of Christ, and encouraging them to become the women and mothers God created them to be. Through Young Life’s time-tested methods and life-on-life mentoring, teen moms are empowered to make positive choices, set and achieve goals, and live a future rooted in Christ. You can read more about, volunteer and support YoungLife and YoungLives at their website.

On Sunday, February 9 at 9:30 am in the John Wesley Room, you can come learn more about the challenges, successes and needs of the local YoungLives organization. For more information on this Outreach Conversation and the register you or you Sunday School class, click here.

Serving With College Ministry

Our church’s college ministry has significantly grown over the last two years. They are focused at supporting the students at UTSA through the Wesley Foundation on UTSA’s campus and ours. Our presence on the UTSA campus needs our support. Three more times this semester, the ministry will be on campus to love on the students. February 14, 18 and March 17, help is needed to prepare (on the church campus), and greet students and hand out items (on UTSA’s campus) during the day. For specific times and support needs, you can contact Lo Alaman. You can find out more about the college ministry here.
