Senegal, Africa

The first medical mission trip from University to Senegal went in May 2011. It was a 10 person medical team, including three doctors, two nurses, and 5 non medical assistants. Over 950 patients were treated and we were able to provide much needed medication and supplies for others. University has partnered with the Mbour UMC (Mbour Eglise Méthodiste Unie au Sénégal). Our assistance helps support the church's feeding programs, wellness ministry, prison ministry, and employment training skills ministry.  Support raised over the years have also assisted the Methodist church of Senegal to purchase land in several areas.  One to build the church in the city of Mbour, and other land purchases for agriculture to help smaller churches be self sufficient.

From 2011 to 2018 we have had 72 different individuals join this medical ministry to Senegal. (Many people return to serve over and over.)  In February 2018 we were able to help over 2150 patients with their medical problems, as well as, providing many  with reading glasses.

New for 2018, was the added service of providing physical therapy and equipment to over 50 handicap children.  (Including walkers, gate trainers, and padded support chairs)

We have had 14 weeks of clinic (12 medical and 2 Optometry). Over 14,000 patients have been seen. This outreach provides both medical care to those without access as well as partnering with the church to strengthen its role of evangelism in this 94% Muslim nation.

Our October/November 2019 team is being selected now. If you are interested in joining our next team to Senegal or would just like information about how you can be a part of this ministry please contact Linda Hearne at  210-378-6169, or you can click the link below for more information.
