A Thanksgiving Gut Check
And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?
-Jesus (Matthew 6:27)
Friends,
Sometimes the right question opens up a whole new way of thinking or looking at the world. Jesus is often recorded in scripture asking questions of his listeners. The gospel writers record Jesus exposing the futility and powerlessness of worry with a single question. Worry is a wasted enterprise because worry simply cannot produce.
This Thanksgiving, here are two more questions that I invite you to join me in wrestling with regarding gratitude and prayer:
If tomorrow I had only those things which I had been grateful for today what would remain in my life?
If God were to grant every prayer I prayed this week, how many lives would be changed?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Ben
