Blessing Comes With Purpose

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

- Paul to the Church in Corinth (and the one in San Antonio)

Friends,

I am so thankful for what God is doing in and through the people of University. We are seeing new professions of faith, growth in worship and discipleship gatherings, and tons of baptisms. Most exciting to me is that it feels like the Spirit of God is moving powerfully in worship, in meetings and in the community. It has been an incredible year of mission and ministry. I believe this is just the beginning of the things God has planned for us.

“Things are so good…I hope we don’t get complacent…”– Lay Leader and Longtime Member

We are in a season of promise and possibility, but there is plenty of work left to do. We would be wise to remember that biblically, blessing always comes with responsibility. Note the “so that” in Paul’s writing above: blessing comes with a purpose. Paul also teaches that investing blessings in that purpose multiplies them rather than drains them.

Here at University, we are catching a glimpse of this gracious feedback loop in God’s economy. God has called us to create bridges to Christ, community and compassion. As we pursue this calling, blessings grow and multiply, and we move deeper in fidelity to our purpose as God’s people in this place. I am excited and grateful to be a part of this moment, and I pray you are, too.

We believe that 2019 will be grace-filled and fruitful, and if you are able, we are asking that you return the enclosed card with your estimate of giving for the coming year to the main church office or the offering plate. Also, you may complete your estimate online here. To those who have already completed it, thank you!

If you have any questions or we can be of service to you or your family, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Blessings,

Pastor Ben
