Most of you have already heard about this year’s unique Vacation Bible School. After having to cancel it last summer, Kids Ministry staff and volunteers have been working hard to get the word out about our creative plan to bring back VBS this June.
Since we were making plans during extremely strange circumstances this year, we set out to accomplish three simple goals:
1) Keep it “in-person” because our kids are all so tired of anything “virtual”
2) Be sure it doesn’t have to be canceled no matter what and regardless of Covid trends
3) Make sure we don’t have to turn anyone away because of space, money, volunteer availability, or comfort level due to pandemic related issue
These three simple goals became the foundation to build Drive-In VBS Live: Knights of North Castle!
I’m proud to report that with the help of a small team of committed volunteers, prayer, and financial support from church members, we are on track to welcome several hundred children to the North Campus Parking Lot from June 14-18th. Kids 5th grade and under, along with their parent or guardian, can attend one showtime each day at either 10am, 11:30am, or 6pm. Together, we’ll explore Old and New Testament stories to discover the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Justice, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, and the Helmet of Salvation at work in the lives of familiar Bible characters.
The showtimes will include singing, dancing, and live actors on an outdoor stage, as well as hilarious videos played on a huge LED screen. Depending on the comfort level of each family, they can stay in their car, bring chairs to set up near their car, or come up close to the stage to interact with others - everyone can choose what feels best to them. Kids will also leave each day with enrichment materials to continue their "Quest for the King's Armor" at home.
You can support this effort through prayer, volunteering, inviting kids you know, or a financial gift. The event link on our website has all the details you need to share the opportunity with friends, register children, and to volunteer. Financial gifts can also be given, just designate VBS. We appreciate your support and hope to see you there!
