Heaven-On-Earth Action

Posted by on

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.
Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He has given us new life and hope.
He has raised Jesus from the dead.
God has claimed us as his own.
He has brought us out of darkness.
He has made us light to the world.
Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

Easter is such a wonderful reminder of the hope we can look forward to and currently reside in. I think too often we think of heaven as a destination we will arrive at in the future. Instead of being something that Jesus ushered into our now when he was no longer in that tomb. Not only do we get the promise of eternity in heaven we also get the extraordinary privilege of being light to the world here and now. Some heaven-on-earth action, if you will.

Some of the starkest examples of heaven-on-earth action are in schools. Kids, from the littlest babes to the oldest teens, are full of so much goodness and chaos. When you get a whole mess of them together in a building – that’s a lot of chaotic goodness. Throw in some staff that are nurturing, guiding, and teaching these kids and you’ve got a beautiful cross-section of the world. These schools, with all these humans, are perfect places to bring the hopeful heaven-on-earth action.

Our church is fortunate enough to be surrounded by 5 public schools that we are actively bringing heaven on earth to, in the form of service and hope.

We partner with four of those schools – Clark HS, Hobby MS, Locke Hill ES, and Colonies North ES. From those 4 schools, there are 510 staff members working within 210 classrooms, caring for a little under 5,000 students. We are also working on partnering with Rawlinson MS, which would add an additional 90 staff and over 1,300 students to our care.

Here are some of the ways you can help support them throughout the school year with your donations:

$5 - Appreciation Bags (510 staff between all 4 schools)

$10 - One book per staff at Scholastic Fair (170 staff at Locke Hill and Colonies North)

$50 - Snacks for a classroom party

$250 - Books for one classroom (25 kids in a class)

$500 - Breakfast for staff at one school (Coffee and Tacos)

$1000 - School supplies for one classroom ($40 to give one kid supplies for the year)

$2000 - Lunch for staff at one school (Food Truck)

If you are interested in serving at the schools, please reach out to Pauline Ramirez for more information at
