It Has Begun

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.

Friends,

It has begun.

We have raised lit candles in the sanctuary. Silent Night has been sung. Light breaks in to the darkness. Hope again makes its dwelling among us. This past Sunday afternoon, the Service of Hope reminded us that even in the midst of loss God is with us. On Wednesday night, the Tamale Dinner and Travelers Christmas Eve brought together all of our worship styles and a beautiful gathering of fellowship and adoration.

Our Christmas Services have begun, but they are far from over. Please see below for our unique schedule for this Sunday and for the many options to be a part of Christmas Eve Worship here at University.

It is the tradition of University to model the generosity commanded in scripture by sharing our blessings. This year’s special Christmas Eve offering will be given to Magdalena House to fund renovations of the original home on their property. Many of you know the ministry and mission of Magdalena House well as it was born in the hearts and halls of University. It has grown to be one of the most amazing outposts of hope here in San Antonio. A transitional home that serves mothers and children who have fled dangerous and abusive lives, MagHouse provides the space, time, shelter, safety and support that makes transformation possible.  The residential capacity of MagHouse has been recently expanded, which means more women and their children will find new hope–filled futures. Loose plate offerings given in our Christmas Services and gifts that are designated to MagHouse or Special Christmas Eve Offering will be given to this great organization. Be sure to mark your checks if you would like your generosity to be a part of this effort.

May the creative Word of Hope that spoke creation into being and took on flesh in Christ dwell richly among us!

In Christmas Hope,
Pastor Ben
