Sutherland Springs, Resiliency and Security

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

Friends,

Earlier this week you might have seen my response to the terrible events in Sutherland Springs.

I was encouraged and in awe of the folks in Sutherland Springs to learn they are planning a worship service in a nearby community center this Sunday,  A week after this horrible act of violence occurred during worship, First Baptist Sutherland Springs is getting together to sing, pray and grieve. God’s people are incredibly resilient.

Given that these awful events took place during worship, I know many of you are wondering about security on University’s campus. We have uniformed police officers with us on Sunday, and there are additional plain clothes law enforcement officers who attend our various worship services. Our staff and trustees are reviewing our security policy, and we are committed to doing everything within our control to ensure the safety of our community.

Whether you are in the Sanctuary, the Worship Center or Believers Garden, we will sing, pray and witness to a faith that places our security in Jesus Christ. I hope you will join us.

Blessings,

Ben
