University is Growing

Posted by Rev. Ben Trammell on

News of this reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
Acts 11:22-23

Friends,

I am so pleased to announce some pastoral additions to our clergy team at University.

First, a name that will require very little introduction for many of you is returning to our community. Denise Barker, the Executive Director of Magdalena House, is coming home to University. An Ordained Deacon, Denise’s full time work will remain as the founder and CEO of Magdalena House. In her part time work with University, Denise will assist in worship, teach and lead us to be more deeply connected to the work of God in our neighborhoods. Denise will join our team in May.

Second, I am excited to introduce to you Reed McNitsky. Some of you may know his father who has pastored Alamo Heights UMC for the past 24 years. He will be commissioned an Elder at Annual Conference this year, and the Bishop was pleased to appoint Reed to our team. Reed is a graduate of the University of Texas and Duke Divinity. Reed not only brings a fresh perspective and extensive gifts for ministry, but he embodies an opportunity for us to fulfill God’s calling on our community to invest in and develop young leaders. Reed will begin his work among us in July.

I know you will join me in welcoming Reed and Denise into the community and mission of University. As each arrival draws near, we will provide ways in which you can help welcome them into the community of University.

Blessings,
Pastor Ben
