Work on Purpose

Posted by Magen McCue on

For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Philippians 2:13

This past Friday over coffee and bagels at our favorite meeting spot, Einstein’s, the Audio/Visual Department gathered to discuss completed, in–progress and future projects within our team at University. I came out of the meeting feeling satisfied that we are on track with attainable goals to keep and create seamless A/V assistance for worship services, classes and events. But with that satisfaction heading into the fall popped the questions; are we going to work on purpose and why do we do what we do?

In our line of work, it is easy to get caught up in the newest technology toy “we just have to have” or to judge our success by how well an event/service ran. And although that makes for a better drive home after we clock out, the real measure of success is did we see God’s purpose in our work? When we concentrate on the purpose, our attitude of our work will reflect His. So from providing a listening device to a congregation member to running a full worship experience in one of our seven services on Sunday, our department strives to be a tool belt for God’s plan at University.

Over the past nine years, I have had the privilege to work closely with every one of you to project God’s word and purpose for University over loud speakers, projectors, computers and lights. As I introduce our department to the University Family in this blog, I pray we can serve your ministry area to work for His good pleasure!

Peace,

Magen McCue
Audio/Visual Director
